‘In Vietnam, the wind doesn't blow, it sucks’.

Full Metal Jacket is a riveting, unrelenting and intelligent look at military life during the Vietnam war from Stanley Kubrick in his last great film.

The storyline initially follows a platoon of U.S. Marines through their training, primarily focusing on two privates, Joker (Matthew Modine) and Pyle (Vincent D'Onofrio ), who struggle to get through boot camp under their abusive drill instructor, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (a scene stealing R' Lee Ermey initially hired as an advisor on the film).

The second half of the film takes the Marines to Hue city and the climactic battle of the Tet Offensive where Joker finds himself in Vietnam working as a combat journalist where he gets to see the horrors of war first hand during bloody street fighting in Hue City.
