Written by Ingmar Bergman, Faithless tells the story of Marianne, an actress married to a famous orchestra conductor and drawn to her husband's best friend, with devastating consequences. Nominated for the Palme d'Or Award at Cannes in 2000, Faithless is a mesmerising film of the highest order with extraordinary central performances from Endre, Josephson and Henriksson. The culmination of a long term artistic collaboration between Ullman and Bergman, Faithless is a story of love, sex, marriage, betrayal and parenthood, brimming with psychological tension.

Ingmar Bergman's iconic and much imitated film about a knight and his squire who return from the crusades to find the Black Death sweeping the country. Confronted by the Grim Reaper the knight challenges Death to a fateful game of chess for his life. An allegory of humankind's search for meaning in life and in death, this is a film of human comedy and tragedy, raising profound and interesting questions.

Spoofed by Woody Allen, French and Saunders, Bill and Ted (on their Bogus Journey) and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Last Action Hero, The Seventh Seal is an undoubted masterpiece of world cinema. It tells of a crusader knight (Max von Sydow) who refuses to accompany Death (Bengt Ekerot) until he has found a flicker of hope in a world stricken by plague, corruption and fear. While this is a highly personal film, in which director Ingmar Bergman (the son of the chaplain of the Swedish royal family) resolves his own doubts about the existence of God, its conclusions will leave even the most cynical viewer filled with optimism.
